Energy performance contract: CO2-neutral building, for free

Van der Poorten printing supplies high quality and fast printing for every step of the process: advice, prepress, printing, finishing, shipping and delivery.
Their buildings include an office building, a workshop and a warehouse and are located in Leuven.

Sustainability is very important for Van der Poorten.
They concluded a cooperation agreement with CO2logic to calculate, reduce and compensate for the CO2 footprint of the company (scope 1, 2 and 3). Its own operations, as well as the purchased paper, is therefore completely CO2 neutral. The annual cost of CO2 emissions is therefore not borne by the community.
Factor4 performed an energy study focused on improving the production process, in addition to energy-saving measures: the existing pressure fluctuations are to be eliminated and the continuity of the process and visual comfort to be improved.

Some of the measures:
– New speed controlled compressor
– Reduce leaks in the compressed air network
– Reduction of compressed air pressure
– Relighting

The net profit of these measures should to be sufficient to cover the annual cost of CO2 compensation for the buildings. In that way the buildings are actually CO2-neutral for free.
